Powering the Space Workforce: Skills Insights for Industry Leaders

Edinburgh, 30 October 2025 – The UK space sector is growing fast, but demand for skilled, hands-on talent is outpacing supply. Professionals transitioning from the armed forces and oil & gas sector bring valuable experience, but targeted training is needed to fill critical gaps in areas such as assembly, integration and testing (AIT), advanced composites manufacturingavionics and embedded systems engineering, and software development and integration. Understanding these gaps is key to developing practical, short-course programs that equip the workforce for immediate impact.

The Space Scotland Skills Employers Group is bringing together key industry representatives to explore the skills the sector urgently needs and how training can address these gaps. This discussion will focus on identifying the most pressing skills shortages, mapping suitable training courses, and understanding the scale and location requirements for delivery.

We want the right voices from your organisation involved. Please speak with your teams to highlight priority skills gaps and any existing courses that could help and send along the most suitable representative for a discussion on 10thNovember 2025 from 13:00 to 14:00

Agenda:

  • Welcome and Introductions (10 mins)
  • Discussion on identified critical skills (15 mins)
